hirobotics: (thanks buddy)
[personal profile] hirobotics
1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.
Hiro usually ends up either on his back or his stomach. Why? The world will never know. He'll often fall asleep while doing something; tinkering with his latest bot, reading a book or comic, surfing the internet on his phone, etc.

2. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
No freckles, dimples, or interesting scars, but Hiro does have a slight gap between his two front teeth. He was one of those kids who played with his teeth while they were loose.

3. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
Hiro has an "American" accent, which to most folk doesn't really sound like an accent at all.

4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
He has a bit of a tendency to talk quickly and stutter, but other than that, nothing noticeable.

5. What are their chief tension areas?
His shoulders and lower back, for sure.

6. If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
Hiro thinks pretty positively of himself. He did, after all, graduate high school at 13 and have a serious winning streak in bot fighting (that earned him quite a lot of money, too). He knows he's a genius and therefore smarter than most people out there, and has very little problem with tooting his own horn when he feels like it.

8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
Generally speaking, Hiro's really quick on his feet and especially in a pinch (must come from all the video games). However, when it's a bigger problem, that naturally requires a little more time to find the right solution.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
Hiro does dream, just not particularly vividly to the point that he absolutely remembers every detail. He's definitely pulled his share of all-nighters though, especially while working on his personal robotics projects. Hiro's also simply gone sleepless for several nights in a row, especially in the weeks immediately following Tadashi's death. He'd spiraled into a depression at that point and was simply unable to get any proper rest, instead finding that his days and nights were blurring together while he simply stared out the window.

10. If they had a choice, would they prefer a subway or a bus for public transportation?
Hiro usually goes the good old fashioned way: his feet. But he's used to public transportation in San Fransokyo, so that's nothing new to him. If he had to choose between the two methods, he'd go for the subway; more time to sit and think about his projects without worry.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
Being a scientist by extension, Hiro does prefer to believe in evolution. He's not particularly religious, especially not since his parents died, but his family used to practice Shinto.

12. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has.
    - Hiro and his hair have a relationship. He touches it a lot, especially when he's thinking, which is why it always looks so messy.
    - he gives absolutely zero thought to his appearance, which makes for ending up pretty disheveled by the end of the day
    - Hiro's interest in things tend to only get piqued when a challenge has been issued
    - despite his progression through puberty, Hiro's still more interested in building robots than dating
    - Hiro enjoys botfighting primarily for the thrill of it; the money is a happy bonus that goes into the bot-building budget

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
Absolutely. Genius can't be rushed, after all. He was only able to overcome the mental block with the help and encouragement of his brother.

14. Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
Being a bit of a social outcast has made it so that Hiro tends to fly solo. But with some time and effort, he's capable of becoming a great team player as well.

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
Hiro's a fantastic multi-tasker. He can study, build a robot, play a video game, and eat all at the same time. He can get to spread himself pretty thin and yet get a lot done, but when he really wants to devote himself to something he's absolutely capable of focusing and getting it done as quickly as possible.

16. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst? List five of each.
His best subjects: Science, Math, English, Phys Ed (surprisingly!), Japanese.
His worst subjects: Art, Social Studies, Health, History, Home Economics.

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
Hiro's pretty balanced, but he leans more on the side of introvert. When there are a lot of people around, Hiro tends to draw back into himself and move toward a part of the room where he can be left alone. It's hard for him to be the center of attention, especially when he's never really fit in with the rest of his peers. For instance, making a big presentation in front of a crowd was incredibly difficult for him and he was only able to do it with the support of his friends and family.

18. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
Hiro is definitely more of a leader. While he's still getting used to the team thing, he knows how to look at a problem and find a solution. He's a strategist, and he knows how all the parts of his team can and should work to achieve their goals.

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
Hiro's a fighter through and through.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
SPOILERS: Robert Callaghan, as revenge for the death of his brother.

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
    - to have all the best tech he could possibly get his hands on (because TECH)
    - to never have mental blocks again (because those suck)
    - the genie's freedom bring Tadashi back to always be able to help out Aunt Cass financially (since she's always done her best to take care of him and Tadashi, it only seems fair)

22. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
It takes Hiro quite a bit of time to warm up to someone. He's always had a smaller support system, and outside of his family, people tend to treat him a little different because of how quickly he went through school.

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Tech. Talk nerdy to him, talk technology and robotics to him, impress him with your mechanical engineering know-how, and Hiro will actually want to be your friend. Alternately, flattery works fairly well with him, too.

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
Hiro's made plenty of enemies in his day. Several of his high school classmates were none too happy with the way he flew through the school system. And most all of the bot fighters that he'd hustled, especially Little Yama.

25. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
Since Hiro's still only 14, he hasn't really discovered what he's like in that situation just yet.

26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
Preparing for bed in the Hamada house generally consists of brushing his teeth, getting into some comfortable clothes, and then running his brain into exhaustion before flopping unceremoniously onto his bed. Hiro can definitely stay up for days, though usually only when he's working on something.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
Yes, in the sense that most human beings are. Currently, Hiro's main regret is not being able to stop his brother from running into the expo hall building.

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
Hiro's okay with a little silence. He's a thinker, and he likes having time to think and be with his robotics projects. He doesn't necessarily mind a little noise, and every now and again it's nice to have a "fun time" break from work, but the silence is fine.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
Honestly? Probably gummy bears. Or hot wings.
